The Phoenix Homes Team Built A WordPress Search Plugin for flexmls IDX

Jun 8, 2010  |  Michael Wurzer

This is really cool.  Max Chirkov is the Marketing Director for The Phoenix Homes Team run by Matt Pellerin, and he’s created a new WordPress plugin that makes it easy for users of our flexmls IDX system to add a simple search to their blog side bar or inside blog posts.  Here’s a video from Max explaining the plugin in detail.

Max used the flexmls IDX API to help him build the search plugin. We also know Greg Swann is doing some really cool things with the flexmls IDX API, and we look forward to seeing what others start creating as well. If you’re a developer and you’ve used the flexmls IDX API, let us know and we’ll feature it here on the FBS Blog.

Update: Max sent me a message saying the plugin will be published here as soon as WordPress approves it. You can download the plugin here.

  1. Hi Michael,

Thanks for the mention! We hope agents across the country will find this useful for their Web sites.

Having been online since the late 90’s, we’ve had many friends ask to borrow ideas, code snippets and various “wigets”. So, over a year ago we decided to start sharing what works for us with all real estate agents and not just our friends. Since then we’ve not only shared, but have taken company time and money to develop various wigets for WordPress based Web sites (and a few for Drupal based sites as well).

Thanks again for the mention, we really appreciate it since we ask nothing in return for our sharing. 🙂

Thanks so much, Matt, you guys are doing some very cool projects!

  3. Just installed the plugin this looks great, good job Matt & Max!

  4. I’m Kris Themstrup, and I’m the AgentPress Project Manager over at StudioPress. We’re impressed with the plugin and would like to look into it a little deeper to see if it’s something we could recommend to our AgentPress clients. Feel free to get in touch with me if you’re interested.

  5. @Josh: Thank you Josh! I’m glad it’s working out for you! I hope you gain many new clients through the use of our flexMLS IDX quick search widget!

@Kris: I just sent you a Tweet on Twitter from my personal account http://Twitter.com/MattPellerin and from my company account http://Twitter.com/PhoenixHomes – I look forward to working with you.

@All: A few people have contacted us asking if there are embedded links to our sites in the plugin. I guess it’s hard to believe you can get something for nothing… Answer: No, there are no links to our sites (or any sites) hidden in the plugin.

I know many do put links in their free offerings. But this is not our style. We do not like when someone forces us to link to them, so we would not force anyone to link to us just to use our widget. This leaves it open to the user to link to us, or blog about us (thank you again Michael), etc. if they want to. Additionally, we have a way for you to contribute to the American Cancer Society, a charity very dear to my heart.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions. 🙂

This plugin saved me so much development time!! Thank you for creating it!

I also wanted to say that I love the fact that your donations go straight to the ACS. My husband a is a cancer survivor (osteosarcoma, he is now an aka amputee, but is cancer-free) – we donate regularly to the ACS and the hospital where he received treatment. Very cool to see that you’d rather donate than receive donations yourself.

    Thanks again!
